Why you should do the PADI Advanced Course?
December 30, 2024
If you are a PADI Open Water Diver and are looking to expand your diving capabilities, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is a perfect next step. It offers plenty of benefits, from honing your skills to exploring new underwater experiences. Here are some compelling reasons why you should consider taking the plunge.
Refine skills
The Advanced Open Water course allows you to build confidence and improve your diving skills. While the Open Water course equips you with the basics, the Advanced course helps you refine these skills under the guidance of an experienced instructor. You will learn how to manage to dive in current, improve your air consumption, and use the right number of weights.
Different types of dives
Another significant advantage is the opportunity to explore different types of dives. The course includes five adventures dives, two of which are mandatory: Deep and Underwater Navigation. The remaining three can be selected based on your interests, such as Night Diving, Wreck Diving or Underwater Photography. This will introduce you to new aspects of diving you may not have considered before.
Access more dive sites
Moreover, the Advanced Open Water certification often serves as a gateway to more exciting dive sites and experiences. Many dive destinations have depth limits for less experienced divers, and with this certification, you’ll be qualified to dive up to 30 meters (100 feet). Also some diving safari boats will ask for the Advanced certification as a minimum qualification to join the trip. This will open up a whole new world of underwater landscapes and marine life, from vibrant coral reefs to mysterious wrecks.
Meet people
As you progress, you’ll meet other passionate divers, share experiences, and gain insights from more seasoned individuals. This camaraderie enhances the overall diving experience and can lead to lifelong friendships and dive buddies.
When is the best time
Some divers do the Advanced course directly after their Open Water Diver course. Some wait for a little while. It really depends on the circumstances. The vacation time, how often you have the opportunity to dive, the price, maybe you are waiting for a family member or a friend to join you on the course. Once you completed your Open Water Diver certification I would recommend to do a few fun dives first before starting the Advanced course.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is a fantastic opportunity to elevate your diving skills, explore new underwater realms, and become a more confident and competent diver. Whether you’re looking to deepen your knowledge or simply have more fun underwater, this course is an excellent investment in your diving journey.
