At Ocean Dimensions Maldives, our passion for the ocean is at the heart of everything we do. Founded and led by Marc Zaalberg and Petra Hellmann, the company brings decades of global diving experience together in one of the world’s most extraordinary marine environments. Their shared vision is simple: to create meaningful, safe, and unforgettable experiences that connect people with the beauty of the underwater world.
Marc Zaalberg, originally from New Zealand, began diving in 1986 and has worked professionally since 1990, spending much of his career in the Maldives where he developed a passion for underwater photography. He brings creativity, experience, and a deep connection to the ocean to Ocean Dimensions.
Petra Hellmann, from Germany, started diving in Kenya in 1991 and became an instructor in France soon after. Her global career spans Kenya, Thailand, Cuba, Egypt, and Ecuador before settling in the Maldives in 1994. With her multilingual skills and adventurous spirit, Petra plays a key role in creating the warm, professional atmosphere Ocean Dimensions is known for.
Together, Marc and Petra have built Ocean Dimensions Maldives into far more than a dive and water sports provider. It is a reflection of their lifelong dedication to the ocean and their commitment to sharing its wonders with others. Their hands-on approach, combined with decades of international experience, ensures that every guest experience is delivered with authenticity, professionalism, and care.
Beyond operations in the Maldives, Ocean Dimensions has grown into a trusted partner for resorts, investors, and operators worldwide seeking to establish or elevate dive centres and water sports facilities. Marc and Petra bring a highly practical, experience-driven consultancy approach, supporting projects from initial concept and feasibility through to design, setup, staff training, and ongoing operational structuring. Their insight covers everything from equipment selection and safety standards to guest experience design and long-term sustainability.
By combining real-world operational expertise with a clear understanding of industry trends, they help create facilities that are not only efficient and commercially successful, but also environmentally responsible and built to last.
