Scuba Ladies

A nice day on the boat with the girls

Best dive buddies at Six Senses Laamu

As of August 2017, Ocean Dimensions are now diving & snorkelling in the Unesco Biosphere Reserve in the Baa Atoll at Kihaa Maldives – the closest resort to Hanifaru Bay. We hope to see you there!

I just got back from diving and talking to these two scuba diving ladies. Uschi from Germany and Shaania from the Maldives, two new best buddies! Shaania learned diving in Male and has about 100 dives all around the Maldives. Uschi started diving as a student when she was 22. She usually was the only lady on board and they were still diving with the tanks strapped to their backs and the horse collar instead of today’s BCD. She had adventurous diving stories to tell like…. Uschi and her boyfriend / today husband bought some neoprene pieces and glued their wetsuit together themselves, wetsuits were not commonly available and very expensive at that time. They had their own compressor and their own steel tanks which every 2 years they had to take to the fire department to have them checked. They flew with Condor Airlines to Turkey, Corfu and Sardinia when there were no electronic gates at the airports, her husband was wearing the weight belts to save on luggage allowance. I think we have to continue with these wonderful stories at the bar later….
