Ahmed Samir had this big dream to sponsor a PADI OWD or Open Water Diver course.
A PADI instructor for 20 years, he grew up on the local island of Inguraidhoo in Raa Atoll, Maldives. One day he decided that he wanted to support the island and foremost the children. What better gift to give then offering what he does best. He sponsored 4 students from 9th grade of the local school to do a PADI Open Water Diver course. Inguraidhoo does not have a dive center so there was no compressor, tanks or any dive equipment available. Brennia Kottefaru is the nearest resort only a 20 minute boat ride away. So Ahmed Samir contacted us and asked if we could help out.
Of course we were more than happy to help him and his students to make this big dream come true. It was our pleasure to host him and his students. The young pupils prepared the theory via PADI eLearning in advance. For 5 days from the 15th July to 19th of July Ahmed Samir and his four students came early every morning to Brennia. They learnt how to set up their equipment and went to practice the skills of the course in the lagoon. After mastering all the skills they went by boat to do their open water training dives around the Brennia house reef. They got to see a honeycomb moray looking out of its hole, several hawksbill turtles, a scorpion fish hiding in the reef, tunas hunting, many schools of fish and even some grey reef sharks on their first dives. What an amazing experience.

Congratulations to the Hassan, Looth, Mohamed Shazvann and Mohamed Rayyaan on successfully completing their course. And also kudos to Ahmed Samir to sponsor a PADI OWD course. You sure have created 4 ambassadors for the underwater world. You have given these young man a great skill set and maybe one day some will turn out to be a dive instructors like us.
