A Divers Paradise Amongst Raa & Baa Atolls

Biodiversity At Every Dive Site

Enveloped in the pristine waters of Raa Atoll, Dighufaru Island Resort serves as an idyllic gateway to spectacular dive sites. Renowned for soft coral gardens swaying like vibrant underwater tapestries, the remote Atoll offers unspoiled reefs directly from the resort. Crystal-clear visibility exceeding 30 metres reveals a kaleidoscope of colours and textures epitomising the region’s diving allure.

The marine biodiversity at Dighufaru is extraordinary, with reef fish darting among branching corals and sea fans. Pelagic species add excitement, especially majestic manta rays gliding year-round, their wingspans casting ethereal shadows. Grey reef sharks patrol dramatic drop-offs, while schools of eagle rays and turtles frequent shallower gardens, evoking a living aquarium.

Strategically positioned near protected marine area, Hanifaru Bay, Dighufaru provides effortless access to mega-fauna sites. Hanifaru Bay, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, is a hotspot for aggregating whale sharks feeding in plankton-rich shallows from May to November. The Angafaru region boasts rich biodiversity, including nurse sharks, moray eels, and occasional dolphin pods, thriving in safeguarded ecosystems preserving pristine reefs.

At the PADI-certified Dive Centre, all levels receive professional guidance and top-tier equipment for immersive adventures. The house reef, accessible from the beach, highlights convenient drifts over coral bommies, where octopuses camouflage among rocks. Snorkelling unveils surface wonders, while scuba divers explore channels and thilas for barracuda schools.

Throughout the Raa Atoll, bioluminescent plankton illuminate night dives with magical glows. Celebrated for overall biodiversity, the dive sites make Dighufaru ideal for unspoiled reefs teeming with life. Watersports facilities complement scuba diving courses in calm lagoons, celebrating the Maldives’ underwater paradise.
