Turtle Nests

at Six Senses Laamu!

Turtle’s nesting at Six Senses Laamu

Ocean Dimensions Maldives
As of August 2017, Ocean Dimensions are now diving & snorkelling in the Unesco Biosphere Reserve in the Baa Atoll at Kihaa Maldives – the closest resort to Hanifaru Bay. We hope to see you there!

This is a busy time of the year and turtle nesting season is also on right now!  The resort at Six Senses Laamu currently has 5 Turtle nests which are marked, protected and under surveillance for any activity.

We are still expecting some more Turtles to come up onto the island to lay their eggs for this years season. Usually the turtles come at night to dig their nest, lay the eggs and go back to sea.  The whole process can take several hours. If we are lucky, somebody around the resort spots them and we all quietly gather around to watch or we find the trail they leave when the heavy Green Turtle drags her shell up the beach.

We are expecting the babies to hatch in the next 2 months!!
