Single Use Plastic

Zero Plastic Run

plastic free running

We have a super fit team of PADI dive instructors! Oleg, Joerg, Marc and Margherita go running almost every day. Some run in the gym, others run on the path around the island which is nearly 1 km long. Yes, they do many runs around our island but the good thing is they don’t encounter any traffic!!

When we heard about the Zero Plastic Run, which is a 5 km run on the 1st of February 2019 in Hulhumale, everyone wanted to be part of it. As some of us still have to take our guests diving only 1 of our team will join the run this good cause. This year, Margherita will run for Ocean Dimensions – make us proud!!

We all want to get rid of single use plastics and this run should highlight and bring more attention to the negative environmental impacts caused by plastics. This event is the first of its kind and will be continued annually until Maldives becomes a zero single use plastic nation. But also note, we all have responsibilities to achieve this goal #IamResponsible

The picture above was taken in Bali by our diving instructor/photo pro Joerg. He still recounts it as the saddest day of his diving career. Fortunately, we haven’t seen such a scene here in Maldives yet, but the day will soon arrive if we don’t change the way we consume.

If you see similar activities in your country join them and help to highlight this huge problem! Let’s save our planet!
