Popular snorkel trips

You do not have to be a diver to explore the beauty of the Indian ocean. There is plenty to see just by snorkelling! At Kihaa we have many different types of excursions, there is something for everyone. Here are our most popular snorkel trips
Turtle reef snorkel
This excursion is great for beginners or if you want a nice easy time in the water. Its very popular for families. We can never guarantee wildlife, but during this trip you have a VERY good chance of seeing turtles! Here it is possible to see both the hawksbill and green turtle, as both of their food sources grow either on the reef or close by.
Hanifaru Bay
Of course this place is extremely popular among divers and snorkellers. It is one of the best places in the world (If not the best!) to see Manta rays, and big numbers of them. The bay is a UNESCO marine protected area with many rules we have to follow. Hanifaru is exclusively for snorkelers only, you are not allowed to dive in the bay. The season runs from May to November, if you want to visit Hanifaru then make sure you book the right time.
Night snorkel
This is a more ‘extreme’ form of snorkelling! It is not everyones cup of tea, but by the end of the trip the guests love it and even want to go again! We enter the water just as the sun is setting, so there is still some light. Then we spend 45 minutes exploring the reef with the help of a torch. Different species become more active at night. Keep an eye out for nurse sharks, sting rays, lion fish, squid and feather stars.
Blue Hole
We go to blue hole as part of our full day snorkel excursion. This site has a big hole in the reef, the top of it around 7 meters and the bottom is 23 meters. There is also a little hole in the side at around 12 meters. If you are a free diver then this is the place to go! We go in the top and then through the middle hole back to the surface. While in the hole, look out for lobsters, groupers, or even a sleeping turtle!
Snorkelling is a great way to see the marine life of the Maldives without having to put on a scuba tank! Come join us for a trip!
